Domestic Violence / Batterers Program Approval in California
Read about the requirements for this class under California Penal Code 1203.097 and 1203.098. The probation department in each county is responsible for reviewing and approving its own list of providers. Streets2Schools is approved by a number of counties, with new ones added regularly.
How Do You Know if You Are Approved to Take the Streets2Schools 52-Week Online Domestic Violence / Batterers Program?
You are approved to take the course—and will receive credit—if:

Special Situations: When You May Be Allowed Even If Streets2Schools Is NOT on Your County’s Approved List
Sometimes a judge or probation officer will allow enrollment in Streets2Schools if there is a compelling reason.
Examples include:
Clients who work out-of-state (truck drivers, movie industry, salespeople)
Individuals with disabilities who find it difficult to leave home
Caregivers who cannot leave their patients
Clients who live far from approved providers

Course Structure
Length: 52 weeks; 52 required weekly sessions. Modular design allows flexibility for lesser court orders.
Sessions: Same-gender, two-hour weekly group meetings.
Accountability: Responsibility for violence is embedded throughout the curriculum.
Attendance and Absences
Absences: Up to 3 excused absences allowed.
Termination: After 4th unexcused absence.

Victim Contact Information
Participants can view, print, and access their intake documents and reports anytime from their account dashboard.
Victim Notification
A letter is mailed to the victim’s provided address, containing:
Confirmation of program participation
Victim resources
Clarification that attendance does not guarantee non-violence.
No Victim or Couples Counseling
In line with the penal code, the program excludes couples counseling and family counseling.
Substance Abuse Monitoring
Participants must attend group sessions free from chemical influence.
Baseline attention testing is conducted at intake.
If suspected of substance use, follow-up testing is administered, and referring agencies are notified.
Sliding Scale Fees
Standard Fee: $35-$50 per class.
Financial Assistance: Sliding scale available based on income via Financial Assessment.
Indigent Clients: Deferred or nominal payment plans available upon request.
Progress Reports and Notifications
Monthly progress reports available to the referring agency.

Compliance with the program contract
Behavioral and cognitive improvement
Exit interviews determine program benefit and compliance under Penal Code §1203.097 (a)(10)(A) PC.
Facilitator Qualifications
All facilitators meet or exceed training standards required under Penal Code 1203.098.
